Got an email from wordpress with my 2010 stats for this blog…which reminded me of its existence.
And yes, I still eat oatmeal. My latest concoction involves salad dressing and I like it. Maybe post soon?

What is your opinion on rolled vs steel cut? I find a ratio of 1/3 nutmeg to cinnamon in steel cut rocks ze haus.
I STILL haven’t tried steel cut oats yet–I’m having a bit of trouble finding them but maybe I’m just not looking in the right places.
Right now I stick to rolled oats since it’s convenient and fast for me to nuke in a microwave in the morning ['cause I'm lazy]. I’ve heard that rolled oats expand more when cooked compared to steel cut oats though–do you find that’s the case?
In any case, you can never go wrong with cinnamon & nutmeg!
Yeah you totally have to try the steel cut! It is definitely more ‘hearty’ feeling and tasting. You can cook it for a few minutes the night before and put it in the fridge – I just usually do the full cooking the night before and portion it out into pyrex to take to work, complete with all the fixin’s inside and then I microwave it.
I bet you could find some steel cut at a health food store.
Trader Joe’s has steel cut oats. Places like Whole Foods or your local food co-op that has bulk food bins will have steel cut oats in bulk. I’m pretty sure even Safeway has some, in the store brand!
