It just occurred to me how appropriate it is that I have a Nutty Oats series on the blog the same time of year that I’m about to go nuts from a combination of homesickness and stress…see how hilarious I am?
Nov 11
- pumpkin seeds, walnuts, milk, coconut, flax, banana
Ever since I came up with the microwave pancakes, I’ve been craving them like crazy! I’m thinking of doing a savory pancake for dinner sometime
Nov 15
- raisin granola, goji berries, longans, flax, milk, cocoa, walnuts
I haven’t had granola with oats for a while!
Dinner
Baba ghanoush, tomatoes, whole wheat english muffin, scrambled egg, kidney beans, chickpeas
Nov 16
No oats for breakfast!
English muffin with margarine, watermelon, and scrambled eggs.
Kinda refreshing to have a change from the usual routine! I think I’m going to try and have something different for breakfast once every week so I can have oatmeal at the cafeteria XD
Dinner:
Hummus, baba ghanoush, roasted red pepper sauce + bread, tuna, kidney beans, chickpeas, coffee
All-nighter snacks:
Fruits, pistachios, apple, and coffee.
Only my plan failed and I fell asleep…
Home stretch! Only one more week of classes left! When do you guys finish school for the holidays??

That’s how I roll!
Nov 8
- applesauce, coconut, goji berries, longans, flax, cinnamon, ground ginger, walnuts, milk
I need to have applesauce in my oats more often! I see another variation of apple pie oatmeal coming up!
Nov 10
- vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, banana, flax
Sometimes I get a huge, overflowing bowl of oatmeal, and sometimes I barely get anything! It’s such a mystery–must figure this out!
Massive breakfast part 2:
For some reason I was still hungry?!
Lunch:
<3 Thai rice noodle salad with lime dressing, sesame, and some other stuff. I buy this for lunch every time I can’t eat at the caf! The vegetable salads look so sketchy
Chicken gumbo. I had to dilute it with water since it was so salty D:
Snack:
Pumpkin seeds and almonds! I think it’s the second time I’ve ever had pumpkin seeds–it’s awesome!
And I ate a bunch of this before I took the picture
Dinner:
![]()
Scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, kidney beans and chickpeas. I wish I had some tortillas…stuff doesn’t fall out so easily~
I had this for breakfast on Sunday as well–which meant I got to eat oatmeal at the cafeteria! I haven’t done that since last year when I was just starting this blog~

First all-nighter of the year!
Not sure how worthy of celebration that is…
Nov 4
- Silhouette Peach yogurt, flax, banana, PB, mixed nuts
Something other than walnuts! That’s always exciting
Snack–either mid-morning or sometime after lunch:
Nov 3
- vanilla yogurt, PB, flax, longans, goji berries, ground giner, cinnamon
Wow…this is such a yogurt-ful post!
Lunch:
Turkey & tomato sandwich + half of the Thai noodle salad.
Dinner:
Bread + butter, scrambled eggs + the other half of the noodle salad.
I love that they sell that kind of salad at the campus store now! The vegetable salads always look so sketchy
At least the noodle salads look edible!
Nov 2
No oatmeal picture ’cause it was nothing new: goji berries + longans + black sesame. Same old
Post-dinner snack:
Granola bar!
I was going to save it for oatmeal–but obviously that did not work out
Roar–need to go back to reading about Schizosaccharomyces pombe…aka yeast. And it’s not even the fun kind…

The last meal…
…before my doom aka Orgo midterm…
- cocoa, longans, milk, walnuts, flax, goji berries
+ mint tea
I wanted coffee but I didn’t think I need to be any more agitated
Pre-midterm snack:
Free Kashi bars from the cafeteria! Got the coupon in the mail–I also got a free coffee mug! This is why living in residence is awesome
Lunch, aka, consolation meal
Pumpkin & tuna sandwich, yogurt parfait from the tuck shop~
Dinner:
Surprisingly, I was full on this…and it didn’t really even look like much~weird.
pasta salad + beans, cottage cheese + cheerios + PB, pineapple, chocolate chip cookie
Oct 24
- black sesame, goji berries, longans, coconut, walnuts, flax, milk

…because the orgo midterm was a disaster.
Oct 18
- goji berries, longans, coconut, Muslix cereal, walnuts, milk, flax, cinnamon
Lunch:
The as usual!
Strawberry yogurt mixed with Greek yogurt, kashi, peanut butter.
I love weekend lunches ’cause that means I get to binge on Greek yogurt!!
Dinner:
Pumpernickel with baba ghanoush and cucs.
Crackers with baba ghanoush.
Tofu, tomatoes, tons of chickpeas, and potato salad with veggies and capers. This was the first time I’ve ever tried them–sad to say I don’t really like them!
Dessert:
Cookie with honeydew.
Oct 19
- Banana, peanut butter, walnuts, flax, milk
Not sure what else was in this! I have a feeling it may be cinnamon though…since I add it to everything
Hummus sandwich with tomatoes, tofu, egg, and cucs. Along with an apple.
Oct 20
A very fruity breakfast:
Even my tea was flavored with fruits! It’s basically green tea flavored with pineapple, orange, and passionfruit–was really good! I could taste it
- grapes, peach, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, milk, flax, walnuts
For some reason…I didn’t really like watermelon, cataloupe, and honeydew in my oatmeal…maybe ’cause they weren’t sweet enough? It was kinda bland :\
Oh, and check out what I got in the mail yesterday:
SO.MUCH.FOOD. <3 [except for the stuff that's obviously not food]
My parents are awesome
But I love how they delivered my package in their Thanksgiving turkey box to remind me that they had a feast and I had caf food

Oct 14
- goji berries, walnuts, flax, longans?, mocha, milk
Oct 15-16
Not sure where my breakfast pictures went?!
Lunch:
Pumpkin pasta!
Oct 17
- cocoa, cinnamon, ground ginger, banana, walnuts, flax, milk
With Tazo Green Ginger tea! Didn’t taste very gingery to me
Pre-midterm dinner!
A bucketful of Brussels sprouts, an egg, and a hummus sandwich
Three more midterms to go! [Commerce, Orgo, Stats--sometimes I really hate my skewed sense of fun during course registration...]
Oatmeal #119 – Asian style oats September 29, 2008

Saturday:
- oats, flax, walnuts, milk
- 0.25 cup cooked brown rice
- 1 cup green tea + 0.25 tsp matcha powder
- goji berries
- dried dates
- longans
My mom sometimes uses those ingredients [excluding everything in the first row, of course
] when she makes soup–hence the entry title
They really sweeten everything up–I was pleasantly surprised
I added some matcha powder ’cause I know green tea has a very mild flavor, and the powder really did help–great aftertaste!
Lunch:
I think I’m getting better at sneakily taking pictures in the caf!
I found a great spot [not by the window, unfortunately--hence crap lighting] that has relatively few people sitting around so I can whip out le camera without feeling too self-conscious
[This was my second bowl of yogurt by the way--they had greek yogurt--how can I stay away?!]
Dinner:
Was huge.
I took too much peanut butter, that plus two bowls of spinach were really filling!
But dinner was good–even though I prefer going to the other caf for meals [but that one's closed on the weekends so I have no choice
] I do like this caf for their booths though! Makes picture taking easier! [Hence why you don't ever see caf pictures on the weekdays!]
And aaah I really need to catch up on posts ’cause this week has already started and I haven’t finished posting pictures from last week! I’m excited for this week’s theme
Oatmeal #114: Orange Pekoe September 24, 2008

At least I think it is…
Monday:
- oats, flax, walnuts
- milk & water
- 1 pear, mashed!
- 7 longans
- 1 cup orange pekoe [?] tea
The reason I don’t know is ’cause I was running out of different kinds of tea and had to resort to taking things from the caf
And they didn’t have the tea bags in the package, so I have no clue what this is! It smells like orange pekoe? But it could have been red or black tea….?
It was so exciting ’cause the oats were heated enough for me to do banana-oatmeal-style thing with the pears! Pear oatmeal = awesome. I think any type of mushy fruit mashed into oatmeal = awesome, actually
Anyway–I think so far, Earl Grey is still the most flavorful!
Post-gym snack:
Sorry for the visual grossness?
- 0.5 cup mocha
- 1 packet instant cereal
- 1 tbsp quick oats
- 2 tbsp Kellogg’s Just Right cereal
- 1 banana
- lots of boiled water and a splash of milk
It’s like having two breakfasts
Lunch Part II:
Vanilla yogurt, peach, Kellogg’s Just Right cereal , lots of cinnamon
It’s part II ’cause we got free food at the anti-food-wasting pledge signing! But I was so nervous about eating when so many people could watch me [they probably weren't--but I'm paranoid] that I didn’t end up eating more than an english muffin + baba ghanoush, and some veggies & beans
And aaah I can’t believe this is the 3rd week of classes already…how is this possible?! Although I’m not complaining ’cause that means winter vacation will arrive in no time!

Catch-up post!
Haven’t been feeling very adventurous lately…and my fridge was rather empty, so it’s just been nice, classic comboes for the past few days
Monday:
Chocolate-Raspberry Oatmeal
Made with cottage cheese, served with cinnamon gree tea [added the cinnamon in--but didn't really change the flavor much!]
Tuesday:
Cinnamon Coconut Oatmeal Pancake
I tried a new pancake topping instead of the usual banana! The last few scoops of blueberry-cherry jam and walnuts–super yum!
Yesterday:
Blueberry, Corn, Longans Oatmeal
Again made with cottage cheese
That stuff is just magical when cooked with oats! Had a cup of coffee on the side.
Today:
Beans for Breakfast
Sweet bean soup again! Added some rice this time ’cause I was low on pearl barley and black-eyed peas! I added more water this time, and so ended up with a lot more of the soup
Happiness!
I had a cup of coffee with this breakfast–it’s quickly becoming a habit! Not sure if this is good or bad…
Yesterday was snack day for me!
Post-run snack:
One black corn oat chunk, one sliced up Golden Delicious apple, and one heaping spoonful of peanut butter! PB + fruits = amazing.
Was going out for dinner with my housemate at 6: 15, which mean I was having dinner at least 1.5 hours later than usual, so I cut up some raw yellow peppers for a snack after lab:
Dinner was yet another contribution to pizza week! We went to Wooden Heads–a gourmet pizza place–unfortunately I only sat down for about 15 minutes because I had to be back at the lab! The next half hour was possibly the hungriest half hour ever
Luckily my lab-mate was nice and I got to leave 10 minutes early
My pizza was called Arrogosta–curried lobster veloute [a French sauce], grilled red onions [I'm really developing a taste for onions these days--weird!], mushrooms, and smoked salmon! It was SO. SO. GOOD. Smoked salmon is amazing! The sauce was amazing! And it was about $14 plus tax and whatnot–not bad at all!
Oh, and thank you Jenn for nominating me! I always knew I was awesome, but it’s nice to hear it from someone else
And I’d like to nominate: Lindsay [Happy Herbivore], Kristie [Lighter Portions], Jenna [Eat, Live, Run], Leng [A Fat Cat Who Created a Vegetarian], and Chandra [Chandra's Shenanigans]
I’m supposed to nominate two more, but there are too many blogs! Can’t choose! Plus I’m also lazy, so I’m stopping at 5
Be back tomorrow for my oatme al challenge entry!
