It’s very orange!
And also very yummeh
0.25 cup oatmeal, 0.5 banana, pumpkin, flax, milk, cinnamon, ginger, yogurt, 1 broken up carrot spice muffin, almonds
Baked things with yogurt in my oatmeal is my new favorite thing!
All that’s missing is some good ol’ nut butter
-drool-
I had this same thing for the entire week. [oct 13 - 17]
Oh oh and this is what’s on sale this week:
Nature’s Path granola! 3 boxes for $10! [I got $1 off 'cause I got a coupon
] These things are usually like…$6 per box. I got these in three flavors: PB, pumpkin, and hemp. LOVE the PB flavor…OMFG.
Other awesome recipes I’ve tried out lately:
Sept 24
Egg casserole! First one I ever made–baked it in the toaster oven and it took forever. Was good though!
It contained: 2 eggs, parsley & oregano, bit of milk, black pepper, mushrooms, 1 artichoke heart
AWESOMENESS.
Sept 27
Eggplants!!!! Haven’t had baked eggplants in ages. Made this during Homecoming weekend when I was all sick with the cold and all my housemates had gone back home. 4 eggplant pizzas! Topped with Classico’s Mushrooms & Ripe Olives sauce, ground chicken, mushrooms, cheese, and parsley!
And lastly:
Oct 1
TOFU!!
I was really craving asian food for about 2 weeks so I broke out the soy sauce and rice vinegar for some stir-fry! I flavored the slices with ~2 tsp soy sauce, dash sugar, ~0.5 tsp ground ginger, a few squirts of lemon juice, ~0.5 tsp rice vinegar, and ~1 tbsp water.
FOOD IS AWESOME, YEAH?

Yesterday:
I didn’t realize, until I took the picture, how many circles there were in the picture!
- Pancake: Bartlett pears, wheatberries, oatmeal, cinnamon, vanilla extract, rice milk + strawberry yogurt on top
- In the bowl: glutinous rice balls, red beans + millet + pearl barley, more strawberry yogurt
- In the cup: rice milk + 2% milk
Best breakfast I’ve had so far! It was just enough to keep me full. For some reason, I’m extra hungry when I come home for the holidays!
Putting wheatberries in the pancake made the whole thing much more chewy–which, by the way, is awesome.
And rice balls + yogurt = BEST THING EVER. Maybe I should bring a bag of glutinous rice flour back to school!
In the afternoon:
hazelnut mocha.
I’m still a little jet lag so I need this to stay awake! This is going to be so disastrous for me when I go back to school…
Have been doing a lot of snow shovelling–I’m pretty sure altogether there’s been about 2-3 feet of snow, which is more snow than I have ever seen in my life! Driving is absolutely horrible since I keep getting stuck in the driveway!
Check out the backyard!
Now imagine the pool completely covered with snow, it was pretty much level with the ground at one point! Wish I had gotten a picture of that…
Anywhoo–out to lunch soon!

I’m in major confusion over everything in my orgo textbook. My exam is in two days. Verdict: SCREWED.
And when trouble comes my way, I procrastinate.

Oatmeal #137: Tropical Smoothie – Part II
- mango yogurt smoothie, PB, coconut, raisin granola, flax
The caf served these smoothies on Sunday–which was majorly exciting! Once in a while they’d spoil us like this…
Long story short: I took some of that stuff home for oatmeal!
Dessert for breakfast for the win!
Nov 25
- Golden Delicious apples, sliced blanched almonds, flax, cottage cheese, PB, brown sugar
This week’s oatmeal has been so full of excitement! I haven’t had brown sugar in my oatmeal since…high school? That was how my mom made them!
Question: What did your first bowl of oatmeal consist of?
Dinner:
Turkey breast + eng muffin + jam, peas
The lack of sleep is driving me nuts. Not to mention the fact that the chairs at the lab are extremely uncomfortable for sleeping on
It’s at times like these that I wish I was a midget…

I am obsessed. I’m almost out of quick oats! Am very sad…as I’m not sure how well organic oats will work with my microwave method…
Nov 21
Oatmeal #136: Apple & Coffee Pancake
More caffeinated oatmeal coming this way!
- coffee, apples, flax, ground ginger, cinnamon, milk powder, oats, greek yogurt
I need to figure out how to make apples look better in pictures….unfortunately the sucky lighting in my room doesn’t help!
But oh well–it was fun tasting
The smell of cooked apples and coffee was fantastic!
Snack:
Check out the snow in the background! How am I going to get to all my classes on time if I’m sliding all over the place? I hate snow
Luckily…it all melted away pretty quickly!
Lunch:
Very thanksgiving like! Except the Canadian Thanksgiving was a month ago
Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry stuffing
Nov 21
Banana bread pancake–same as what I had on Wednesday–but with peanut butter! <3
+ spiced chai tea.
I always thought chai would smell more cinnamony–but all I could smell was something that’s like dried orange peels [star anise?]
Lunch:
I finally got my turkey chili!
Too bad I had to scarf it down in a hurry to get to bio on time
Chili, beans, edamame, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, cottage cheese
Nov 22
Breakfast:
Cinnamon raisin english muffin + butter, turkey, kidney beans and chickpeas, cantaloupe
+ Lime Herbal Tea
English muffin = A+
Tea = Z——-
Am officially in need of more english muffins in my life! Too bad the cafeteria doesn’t bring them out that often
The tea was absolutely horrible. It was wayyyy too lime-y. I couldn’t even force myself to chug it down. So I decided to save it for lunch the next day:
Voila~
The return of cafeteria oatmeal! The last time that appeared on the blog was April 27–aka a very long time ago!
- pears, cottage cheese, tea, PB
Unfortunately, I had too much tea–so I still have some of it sitting in my fridge!
And this tea was something even the oats couldn’t save…
Dinner:
Bread, hummus, cucs, beans, egg, apple
All-nighter snack #1 [Nov 23 morning]
Breakfast:
With my orgo homework in the background! But I was actually working on commerce
Toast + butter, banana, egg, apple
Dinner:
Noodle salad + tofu + kidney beans
All-night snack #2:
I think that’s foccacia? I’m not sure what that type of bread is called…but it’s amazing with Herb&Garlic cream cheese.
+ chocolate chip cookie.
And exciting news [for me, that is]–I managed to get 7.5 hours of sleep yesterday! That’s almost 8 hours! Oh my god it felt so weird to sleep properly on a pillow and everything…[I have been sleeping on my bed...but I was half on my chair, and half on the mattress
]
Am going to the gym today…since I’m feeling so energetic. [That may or may not have something to do with the huge cup of tea I just chugged...]

The stock markets are giving me a headache! I have to write this paper for my commerce course telling them why I invested the way I did in some stock simulation game…and the truth is I have no clue…because I had no time during the semester to get a clue!
I’m trying to write the paper right now and I’m pretty sure my TA’s going to think I’m a total moron…

Oatmeal #135: Banana Bread Pancake
- 0.5 cup quick oats
- 0.33 cup water, 0.33 cup milk
- 0.75 tsp baking powder
- 1 mashed banana
- 1 tbsp walnuts
- 1 tbsp flax
- 0.25 tsp ground ginger, lots of cinnamon [optional]
- 1 tsp coconut [optional]
Stir! Microwave! 2 minutes!
First time I popped a banana in the microwave! I must say it’s not bad! Cooking bananas seem to enhance their taste and smell! <3 Definitely will be showing up again on my breakfast menu~

I’m going to try really really hard to finish my commerce paper tonight so I can start working on my chem lab…D: And my orgo final is next Wednesday! Followed by a Commerce final the next day! Seriously…do they want us to fail?!
3 weeks and 3 days til winter vacation–I’m counting on the glorious powers of oatmeal to get me through this!

The other two is for napping
I just don’t have the willpower to pull an actual all-nighter–sorry guys, I guess I’m not that hardcore!
Nov 17
- vanilla yogurt, PB, flax, banana, chocolate almond granola bar
The key word here being chocolate. <3
I was so stoked to see this being sold on campus! And pretty much any type of exciting food I see goes into my oatmeal the next day
[and this is kinda gross, but I wonder what those noodle salads I like so much tastes like in oatmeal! I might have an off-the-side experiment on this one--although I probably won't photograph it--I know when to have mercy on you guys
]
Lunch:
Soup, english muffin, roasted red pepper hummus, crackers.
Small lunch
The store didn’t have the turkey chili I was hoping they’d serve–so I ended up getting the only option they had–aka the vegetable soup.
Dinner:
Acorn&butternut squash chili + egg + cottage cheese + carrots & peas
Chili currently owns a piece of my soul. And it’s even better with cottage cheese!
Late-night snack:
Which means I had another all-nighter.
Bright side: the cranberry almond bar was good! I wish I had the foresight to buy some more food though
[I was hoping that'd be a motivator in avoiding an all-nighter--but I guess life hates me...]
Nov 18
- coffeeeeeee, cinnamon, ground ginger, flax, milk powder [ran out of real milk], honey almond granola bar, walnuts, banana
I miss caffeinated oatmeal! Plus I needed fuel–and this provided me with 7 hours of it. Win!
Back to work!

That’s how I roll!
Nov 8
- applesauce, coconut, goji berries, longans, flax, cinnamon, ground ginger, walnuts, milk
I need to have applesauce in my oats more often! I see another variation of apple pie oatmeal coming up!
Nov 10
- vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, banana, flax
Sometimes I get a huge, overflowing bowl of oatmeal, and sometimes I barely get anything! It’s such a mystery–must figure this out!
Massive breakfast part 2:
For some reason I was still hungry?!
Lunch:
<3 Thai rice noodle salad with lime dressing, sesame, and some other stuff. I buy this for lunch every time I can’t eat at the caf! The vegetable salads look so sketchy
Chicken gumbo. I had to dilute it with water since it was so salty D:
Snack:
Pumpkin seeds and almonds! I think it’s the second time I’ve ever had pumpkin seeds–it’s awesome!
And I ate a bunch of this before I took the picture
Dinner:
![]()
Scrambled eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms, kidney beans and chickpeas. I wish I had some tortillas…stuff doesn’t fall out so easily~
I had this for breakfast on Sunday as well–which meant I got to eat oatmeal at the cafeteria! I haven’t done that since last year when I was just starting this blog~

First all-nighter of the year!
Not sure how worthy of celebration that is…
Nov 4
- Silhouette Peach yogurt, flax, banana, PB, mixed nuts
Something other than walnuts! That’s always exciting
Snack–either mid-morning or sometime after lunch:
Nov 3
- vanilla yogurt, PB, flax, longans, goji berries, ground giner, cinnamon
Wow…this is such a yogurt-ful post!
Lunch:
Turkey & tomato sandwich + half of the Thai noodle salad.
Dinner:
Bread + butter, scrambled eggs + the other half of the noodle salad.
I love that they sell that kind of salad at the campus store now! The vegetable salads always look so sketchy
At least the noodle salads look edible!
Nov 2
No oatmeal picture ’cause it was nothing new: goji berries + longans + black sesame. Same old
Post-dinner snack:
Granola bar!
I was going to save it for oatmeal–but obviously that did not work out
Roar–need to go back to reading about Schizosaccharomyces pombe…aka yeast. And it’s not even the fun kind…

Can’t believe it took me this long to try this! I’ve been wanting to make this for a really long time, but:
1. Didn’t want to wait for the microwave
2. Didn’t want to wash the bowl I mix the batter in and the plate
But I was out of fruits that day, so I had to suck it up
- pumpkin, cinnamon, ground ginger, flax, milk, greek yogurt, walnuts
I got a billion things I haven’t done…including the commerce assignment that’s due today. D: I also have a stats final on Monday, Chem lab report, Bio lab report and quiz next Thursday, then another Commerce assignment due the day after?!
I’m going to need a lot of oatmeal [preferably infused with caffeine and brain cells] to get me through the next 1 month and 11 day.
On a fun note, I destroyed a piece of chem lab equipment yesterday morning! I feel so powerful…like Mohiner Suresh from Heroes…except without the scary part

- Banana
Tomato pretz = so addicting! I wanted to save them but they are too awesome!
Post-gym snack:
Succumbing to addictions part 283934931.
Tomato pretz, greek yogurt + cinnamon, coffee from breakfast
Lunch:
Turkey & Tomato sandwich, egg, chickpeas, kidney beans
Am currently ditching my work for my new favorite show: Bones–anyone else watch it? It’s like a less annoying version of CSI [the way people talk on that show bugs me--does it bother anyone else? Or am I just weird?]
