Booo I’m out of oatmeal, and there’s no microwave in my dorm so no oatmeal for a while! However am going on vacation next Friday so I’ll try to take lots of food pictures!
Speaking of food–last Wednesday some friends and I went to Rangoli, which is owned by the same person that owns Vij’s–apparently a really famous Indian restaurant! [The owner came out to greet us and went around to talk to customers–totally felt like I just met someone famous] We originally planned on going to the latter but the seating was full so we went to the one next door.
Lamb, Beef and Lentil Kebabs with date-tamarind chutneyMan these were spicy. I totally wasn’t expecting that, and me being a total newb when it comes to spicy foods, starts spitting fire after the first few bites. The waiter notices the way I chugged my water when he refilled my glass and felt bad for me I guess ’cause he offered me some yogurt and some mango drink to help. El. Oh. El. I was embarrassed but service sure is excellent!
Dessert was the rice pudding with almonds & cardamon–SO GOOD. I need to get some rice pudding stat.
Anyway back to work!
Oatmeal #127: Almond Milk September 20, 2009Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch.

[Nooooo firefox quit on me just as I was finishing my post!]
Monday – first breakfast of the school year!
- 1/4 cup oatmeal
- 1 gala apple
- cinnamon & ground ginger
- ~1/2 cup water
- 1/4 cup almond milk ❗
I know this almond milk thing has been going on for a while now, but I’ve been missing out due to my overwhelming unwillingness to spend money! So imagine my joy when I saw that this stuff was on sale for $2.00 a carton at Loblaws!
I bought 4 cartons [2 original, 2 vanilla] and have already finished one! The original one has a milder taste than I expected and the almond flavor isn’t very prominent. But it smells like rice milk and it wasn’t too sweet–so I really like it! The vanilla one was wayyy too sweet to drink by itself, though. But it serves a double function as creme and sweetener in my coffee–so it’s all good! 😀
With the milk:
I think I’ll probably need to add the vanilla flavor if I actually want to taste the milk with the oats~
Going back to Sunday’s lunch:
Quaker’s Tomato & Basil rice cakes, soup, veggies & ground turkey with worcestershire and black pepper
I’m addicted to rice crackers! SO GOOD!
Going forward to Monday!
Whole wheat bread + cheese + chicken breast, banana, peach yogurt & fiber1 cereal.
Not sure if I tried it that day or if it was later in the week, but I ate the banana with my ham & cheese. And it wasn’t gross at all! Although instead of the flavors mixing together in my mouth, the banana flavor stood out by itself and the ham & cheese was by itself–weird!
Ground turkey, baby carrots, corn, black beans, mushrooms, onions with parmesan cheese, and soup on the side.
I like saving the boiled water from my cooking and then adding some chicken bouillon to make soup! Saves me from having to dump the water out at the end!
More food to come! Am so behind on this blogging thing–just like how I’m already behind in my school work! 😥

Argh can’t believe school starts tomorrow! Not looking forward to this at all…
Yesterday’s lunch, part one:
Whole wheat bread with turkey breast and cheese, along with Campbell’s Red Lentils & Vegetable soup [with black beans added to it]
Lunch part two:
Peach yogurt with Fiber1 cereal! I ate it straight out of the 650mL container 😛
I’ve seen this type of cereal on so many blogs and wanted to try it–but it’s always so expensive! But this summer it finally went on sale and so I bought some~it is very fiber-y!
With mushrooms, baby carrots, onions, and ground turkey.
I was going to make tomato sauce, but people from Bell messed up and we were stuck waiting for them to come back to fix the problem so there was no time to go grocery shopping! 😦 So for “sauce”, I just used:
– 1 tsp worchestershire
– ~1/4 tsp chicken bouillon
And it turned out pretty nicely so yay! But I still want tomatoes so I can make sauce and chilli! My life is so exciting!

I’m getting worse and worse at updating!
- oatmeal, peanut butter, banana, flax, cinnamon, coffee, ground ginger, milk
I haven’t been very creative with my oatmeal ingredients lately–so I thought I’d get creative with the food presentation! Food photography is quickly becoming my way of procrastinating 😛 That and watching pokemon!
Jan 17 – dinner:
Noodle salad + lime dressing
Bought it from the tuck shop! Noodle salads are the best! Really fills my craving for noodles and asian food ❤
Whole wheat bread + cream cheese
One big difference this semester: I no longer eat oatmeal everyday! It is so weird…but I washing a plate of bread crumbs is easier than washing a bowl with oatmeal bits stuck in it~
Off to watch some more pokemon! [No, I actually don’t have time to watch TV–but I do it anyway because I’m secretly masochistic ]
Obsessed with picture taking January 13, 2009Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner.

I have not been able to put my camera down ever since I discovered how the closeup shots work!
First pancake of the year!
- oatmeal (mix of quick oats & organic rolled oats), unsweetened coconut, peanut butter, milk, cinnamon, ground ginger, flax
+ huge Fuji apple.
I wanted to toss the apple in the pancake–but I only had a plastic knife and those aren’t very good at apple cutting–too bad–because cooked apples go really well with pancakes! I’m so tempted to go and buy a real knife…
Jan 8 breakfast:
Mini blueberry bran muffins–nicked from the caf!
+ 1 egg
I’m really digging having muffins for breakfast! But it feels weird not to eat oatmeal everyday–have gotten so used to it ever since I started this blog!
Jan 9 dinner:
YOU SEE WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THE CLOSEUP SHOTS?!
Why can’t I be addicted to studying instead of random things like taking pictures of food?!!?

One day late!
Meant to post yesterday–but didn’t feel like it
Cards for my parents! I realized yesterday morning, as I was drawing the card on the left, that I can only draw profiles…good thing I don’t plan on making a living off being an artist!
Oatmeal #140: Christmas Oatmeal
Playing with food at its finest 😄
- glutinous rice balls, wheatberries, 0.25 of a small candy cane, sweet walnut soup, milk
Mom made the dough, but I rolled the rice balls myself! Took me an hour to finish rolling out the entire dough–but I’d rather be doing that than my homework!
Christmas eve ice wine:
In a chinese tea cup! My family is classy 😀
Buttered corn, stuffing, turkey + gravy, scallopped potatoes & yams, rice + gravy
Wish I could eat like this everyday!
Is anyone actually brave enough to go Boxing Day shopping? 😄

I’m in major confusion over everything in my orgo textbook. My exam is in two days. Verdict: SCREWED.
And when trouble comes my way, I procrastinate.
Oatmeal #137: Tropical Smoothie – Part II
- mango yogurt smoothie, PB, coconut, raisin granola, flax
The caf served these smoothies on Sunday–which was majorly exciting! Once in a while they’d spoil us like this…
Long story short: I took some of that stuff home for oatmeal! 😀 Dessert for breakfast for the win!
- Golden Delicious apples, sliced blanched almonds, flax, cottage cheese, PB, brown sugar
This week’s oatmeal has been so full of excitement! I haven’t had brown sugar in my oatmeal since…high school? That was how my mom made them! 😀
Question: What did your first bowl of oatmeal consist of?
Turkey breast + eng muffin + jam, peas
The lack of sleep is driving me nuts. Not to mention the fact that the chairs at the lab are extremely uncomfortable for sleeping on 😦 It’s at times like these that I wish I was a midget…
Pancakes November 26, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch, Snack.

I am obsessed. I’m almost out of quick oats! Am very sad…as I’m not sure how well organic oats will work with my microwave method…
Oatmeal #136: Apple & Coffee Pancake
More caffeinated oatmeal coming this way!
- coffee, apples, flax, ground ginger, cinnamon, milk powder, oats, greek yogurt
I need to figure out how to make apples look better in pictures….unfortunately the sucky lighting in my room doesn’t help!
But oh well–it was fun tasting 😀 The smell of cooked apples and coffee was fantastic!
Check out the snow in the background! How am I going to get to all my classes on time if I’m sliding all over the place? I hate snow 👿
Luckily…it all melted away pretty quickly!
Very thanksgiving like! Except the Canadian Thanksgiving was a month ago 😛
Turkey breast, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry stuffing
Banana bread pancake–same as what I had on Wednesday–but with peanut butter! ❤
+ spiced chai tea.
I always thought chai would smell more cinnamony–but all I could smell was something that’s like dried orange peels [star anise?]
I finally got my turkey chili!
Too bad I had to scarf it down in a hurry to get to bio on time 😦
Chili, beans, edamame, cauliflower, zucchini, carrots, cottage cheese
Cinnamon raisin english muffin + butter, turkey, kidney beans and chickpeas, cantaloupe
+ Lime Herbal Tea
English muffin = A+
Tea = Z——-
Am officially in need of more english muffins in my life! Too bad the cafeteria doesn’t bring them out that often 😦
The tea was absolutely horrible. It was wayyyy too lime-y. I couldn’t even force myself to chug it down. So I decided to save it for lunch the next day:
The return of cafeteria oatmeal! The last time that appeared on the blog was April 27–aka a very long time ago!
- pears, cottage cheese, tea, PB
Unfortunately, I had too much tea–so I still have some of it sitting in my fridge! 😦
And this tea was something even the oats couldn’t save…
Bread, hummus, cucs, beans, egg, apple
All-nighter snack #1 [Nov 23 morning]
With my orgo homework in the background! But I was actually working on commerce 😛
Toast + butter, banana, egg, apple
Noodle salad + tofu + kidney beans
All-night snack #2:
I think that’s foccacia? I’m not sure what that type of bread is called…but it’s amazing with Herb&Garlic cream cheese.
+ chocolate chip cookie.
And exciting news [for me, that is]–I managed to get 7.5 hours of sleep yesterday! That’s almost 8 hours! Oh my god it felt so weird to sleep properly on a pillow and everything…[I have been sleeping on my bed…but I was half on my chair, and half on the mattress 😛 ]
Am going to the gym today…since I’m feeling so energetic. [That may or may not have something to do with the huge cup of tea I just chugged…]
awake 22 hours a day! November 23, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch, Snack.
Tags: banana, chocolate, coffee, granola, peanut butter, yogurt
The other two is for napping 😛 I just don’t have the willpower to pull an actual all-nighter–sorry guys, I guess I’m not that hardcore!
- vanilla yogurt, PB, flax, banana, chocolate almond granola bar
The key word here being chocolate. ❤
I was so stoked to see this being sold on campus! And pretty much any type of exciting food I see goes into my oatmeal the next day 😀
[and this is kinda gross, but I wonder what those noodle salads I like so much tastes like in oatmeal! I might have an off-the-side experiment on this one–although I probably won’t photograph it–I know when to have mercy on you guys ]
Soup, english muffin, roasted red pepper hummus, crackers.
Small lunch 😦 The store didn’t have the turkey chili I was hoping they’d serve–so I ended up getting the only option they had–aka the vegetable soup.
Acorn&butternut squash chili + egg + cottage cheese + carrots & peas
Chili currently owns a piece of my soul. And it’s even better with cottage cheese!
Which means I had another all-nighter.
Bright side: the cranberry almond bar was good! I wish I had the foresight to buy some more food though 😦 [I was hoping that’d be a motivator in avoiding an all-nighter–but I guess life hates me…]
- coffeeeeeee, cinnamon, ground ginger, flax, milk powder [ran out of real milk], honey almond granola bar, walnuts, banana
I miss caffeinated oatmeal! Plus I needed fuel–and this provided me with 7 hours of it. Win! 😀
Back to work!
