Catch up time! October 7, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch.

This was supposed to be part of the week’s theme–but it kinda failed in that I didn’t arrange the nectarine properly so the yogurt spilled over the edges and thus failing to be parfait.
- oats, flax, cinnamon
- lots of greek yogurt
- 1 nectarine
Nothing can explain my love for this stuff. So much that I had it again next morning for breakfast:
- oats, flax
- greek yogurt, cocoa, black sesame paste[?]
I may or may not have had this with peanut butter. But if I did have peanut butter around–it definitely went into the oatmeal!
Oct 1: dinner
lots of beans, mushroom marinara sauce, carrots, chickpeas, lentil & spinach soup, yogurt&cottage cheese, mandarin oranges, mystery cafeteria cereal
Oct 2: lunch
Same vegetables as yesterday + parmesan, and a PB&B english muffin!
Vegetable soup, tortellini salad, cauliflower, carrots, zucchini, edamame, and beans
Red peppers!! [the caf never has red peppers at the salad bar], chickpeas, kidney beans, cottage cheese, mystery caf cereal, applesauce, peanut butter
It was quite awesome 😀
Some really exciting oatmeal pictures to come later!!
Oatmeal #116: Blueberry White Tea September 26, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Snack.
Tags: coconut, nectarine, tea
edit: Hopefully the pictures show up now?
- oats, flax, walnuts
- 1 nectarine
- 1 tsp shredded coconut
- 1 cup blueberry white tea
Haven’t had this tea in a while–forgot how good it smells. I find that a lot of the teas I use are more aromatic than flavorful–even when I just drink it plain, which I guess is still more exciting than just plain water! 😀 Also, I haven’t touched a cup of coffee since I started this tea thing~[although the caffeine will most likely reappear when the week is over–I like the taste too much!]
And I notice that I’m not feeling as full even though I make these huge bowls of oatmeal [I use half a cup! How can that not be enough?!]–I don’t understand! Do I need to add more things? D: Maybe I need to take a break from sweet oatmeal?
The best combo in the whole entire world! I think someone [magpie, I think?] suggested the PB&B&Honey and I have yet to try that! Must make it a mission this weekend when I go to the caf 😀
Oatmeal #64: Barley July 10, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner.
Tags: barley, flax, goji berries, longans, nectarine, peanut butter, sunflower seeds, wheat germ
I’ve got a bag of pearl barley courtesy of mom’s visit–so I decided to use it 😀
I used 0.25 cup cooked barley [= 2 tbsp uncooked barley], 0.25 cup oatmeal–wayy too chewy. Can’t believe I’m actually saying this…but the barley took a ridiculous amount of time to chew…and there were little bits that I couldn’t really get at–which was a little annoying 😛
Other stuff in the oatmeal included: goji berries, longans, wheat germ, PB, and milk. Along with a cup of green tea.
Zoomin’ along to today’s breakfast:
Today I used 2 tbsp cooked barley [= 1 tbsp uncooked], 0.44 cup oatmeal–a lot better! Makes everything a lot chewier, but not so chewy that I spend about an hour on each spoonful 😀
Other stuff: nectarine, milk, sunflower seeds, cinnamon, PB, and flax! My coffee grinder works! Whoo hooo! It was a lot louder than I thought…nearly jumped out of my socks when I first started on it 😛 But it’s all worth it ’cause now I’ve got ground flax to use! Today’s lunch was a potluck for all the neuroscience labs in the building, hence no pictures 😀 But I made butter cookies–the process was kind of a disaster and they were a little too crunchy…but at least people ate it! Dinner:
Chunky potato soup with a chicken broth base–yummeh 😀 Along with a banana and 0.25 cup blueberries. It feels so weird eating bananas so late in the day ’cause usually I would have devoured one already!
Unfortunately I didn’t go running today due to a combo of waking up about 12 minutes later than usual, and breakfast took a little longer to make than usual [’cause I was washing the coffee grinder 😛 ]. The baking wouldn’t have been an issue at all since I could have finished it after breakfast and by the time it was time to go running. 😐 Oh well! Can always do that tomorrow–given the weather network doesn’t try to be all ironic and sarcastic on me again 😀
