…because the orgo midterm was a disaster.
- goji berries, longans, coconut, Muslix cereal, walnuts, milk, flax, cinnamon
The as usual!
Strawberry yogurt mixed with Greek yogurt, kashi, peanut butter.
I love weekend lunches ’cause that means I get to binge on Greek yogurt!!
Pumpernickel with baba ghanoush and cucs.
Crackers with baba ghanoush.
Tofu, tomatoes, tons of chickpeas, and potato salad with veggies and capers. This was the first time I’ve ever tried them–sad to say I don’t really like them!
Cookie with honeydew.
- Banana, peanut butter, walnuts, flax, milk
Not sure what else was in this! I have a feeling it may be cinnamon though…since I add it to everything 😛
Hummus sandwich with tomatoes, tofu, egg, and cucs. Along with an apple.
A very fruity breakfast:
Even my tea was flavored with fruits! It’s basically green tea flavored with pineapple, orange, and passionfruit–was really good! I could taste it 😀
- grapes, peach, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, milk, flax, walnuts
For some reason…I didn’t really like watermelon, cataloupe, and honeydew in my oatmeal…maybe ’cause they weren’t sweet enough? It was kinda bland
Oh, and check out what I got in the mail yesterday:
SO.MUCH.FOOD. ❤ [except for the stuff that’s obviously not food]
My parents are awesome 😀 But I love how they delivered my package in their Thanksgiving turkey box to remind me that they had a feast and I had caf food 😛
Oatmeal #112: Earl Grey September 22, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch.

This week’s theme is tea!
Earl Grey = best tea ever.
I haven’t tried a lot of different types since I’m not a tea person, but I really like Earl Grey! It’s probably the only type of tea I can drink by itself, because it’s so flavorful that nothing else is required!
- oats, flax, walnuts
- 1.5 tsp sesame paste powder
- 1 cup Earl Grey
- 0.25 cup milk
Yumfulness! The sesame was added for fun 😀
I find that cooking oats with tea instead of with water gives it an awesome aftertaste! It also smells a lot more exciting
I think with my relatively limited resources and access to the grocery stores, I might start doing weekly themes instead of trying completely new combos everyday–I need to save brain space for classes!
Lunch at the caf:
Buttermilk pancake – the smallest thing ever, but SO GOOD. I break it up into pieces and eat it with the yogurt, cottage cheese, cereal, mandarin oranges, and PB–heaven!
My completely huge dinner:
clockwise from top left corner: macaroni salad with chickpeas, celery, red peppers, huge bowl of spinach, whole wheat english muffin with baba ghanoush [!!], cucumbers, and more spinach.
Doesn’t look like a lot–but I actually went back for another bowlful of spinach and some honeydew melons!
Oh, and I didn’t eat both english mufins–the one at the bottom was meant to be saved for another meal–but then I realized it was moldy and had to throw it out 😦
Turkey noodle soup with my third bowl of spinach–I think I might have eaten too much by this point ’cause I felt like I was exploding 😛
Speaking of cafeterias–the anti-food-wasting group I’m in is conducting some sort of pledge signing today in an effort to get people to pledge that they’ll stop wasting caf food! I think we’re going to try and get weekly stats so we can track our progress–but I hope the turnout is good ’cause otherwise I’d feel stupid sitting in the middle of the caf with an empty sheet of paper in front of me 😛
Oatmeal #110: Sesame – Part II September 20, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Snack.

[wow–it’s been a while since I updated!]
- oats, flax, walnuts
- water, milk
- 1 peach
- 2 tsp black sesame paste powder
- 2 tsp almond pudding powder
The powder combo! Two very flavorful flavors combined together = exciting! Their aromas are also very prominent, so it’s like you get even more flavor via retronasal tasting or whatever that’s called!
It’s like sesame-almond ice cream….ohmgawd!
That’s PB&B&CC! Guess what CC stands for
Haven’t had pears in a while–so I used some! I really really need to go back to cooking my oats so I can mash the pears like I did before! As convenient as muesli is, you start to miss cooked oats after a bit~
- oats, flax, walnuts
- water & milk
- 1 pear, 2 tbsp goji berries
- 1 tsp unsweetened cocoa
Peach yogurt & cottage cheese & apple & shreddies & PB! Very exciting mix of flavors, aka my new addiction–have been eating this everyday!
And if you haven’t guessed…CC = cottage cheese! 😀
Aah I’ve been headaching all morning D: I’m inclined to blame it on the fact that I had tea instead of coffee this morning…but I normally have like…half a cup of coffee??? So would missing that really have this much of an effect…?

Meant to get this up yesterday night, but I was busying have mini-spaz sessions about organic chem and imminent lab reports 😛
There was a huge sidewalk sale at my school on Friday, and this one stand was giving out free Vitamin Water–and my dad got me a bottle to try–I got the dragonfruit flavor. Anyway, forgot to take a picture of it, but it’s pink-ish and doesn’t have that medicine smell…but the smell was still weird…just from that alone, you’d never have guessed the drink was supposed to be sweet!
Anyway, to make a long story short, that’s what went into my muesli yesterday instead of milk! [hence the title?]
I didn’t use the whole bottle…just half–I drank half of it the first day ’cause I had a sore throat and didn’t bring enough water!
Capped off my breakfast with a huge thing of iced coffee [half a cup of tall iced caffe Americano from Starbucks–bought it Sunday but never drank it]–which I couldn’t finish. Heh.
Post-gym snack/pre-first class snack:
Vanilla yogurt “stolen” from the free breakfast thing at the inn dad stayed in! I got this on Friday, so I figured I should eat it ASAP since my fridge was getting cluttered!
I also threw in half a banana and some mixed nuts [salted–dad bought the bag…but ended up giving it to me] on top!
Oh, and yesterday was the first time I’ve ever used the gym at school–I tripped about a billion times on the treadmill! What gives?!
Finally sat down to eat after my Memory and organic chem lectures.
The leftover side: egg from the inn, english muffin [from the caf–heh], spinach & mushrooms [from yesterday’s salad]
The right side: banana [from the morning], PB [from the inn], english muffin, spoon [from the shop at school]
Along with coffee from the morning.
Also ate a small plum and more nuts afterwards~
What I’m going to call a sandwich salad:
Right: before – a nice, normal sandwich [it was spared…for the picture]
Left: after – chainsaw massacre [or maybe plastic knife massacre?]
The sandwich and salad were included as a part of the bag lunch I got from the caf~they always put too much meat in one sandwich, so I decided to throw them both together 😀
Salad: lettuce, tomato slice [heh there was literally one slice], cucumber, carrots, wheat bread, turkey, Granny Smith apple
My don [or residence admin person] came around everyone’s door to ask about our first day of classes and she had candy!
How do you say no to free candy??
Oatmeal #79: Green Tea July 31, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch, Snack.
Tags: peaches, peas, tea
This would have been combo #80, but I’m saving the other one from yesterday for another post 😀
Today’s pre-run breakfast:
I’ve been itching to try the combo of tea + oats, but then pancakes re-entered my life and I forgot everything else 😀
Anywhoozer! This morning I literally threw a tea bag in with the oats [after letting the tea steep by itself for a few seconds first], and I only added a splash of milk so it wouldn’t be too dry. [which always seems to happen if I make oats with only water] I also added 0.5 tsp-ish of matcha powder and vanilla extract ’cause green tea just isn’t that strong in terms of flavor.
The oats did taste rather tea-ish, but it was very very subtle–I couldn’t smell the tea at all. It did make a nice change though 😀 And I guess I got a nice dose of antioxidants this morning! 😀
Along with the oats, I threw in some peas to match the green theme, flax, walnuts, and then some peaches ’cause I need fruits with breakfast! I ended up with a giant bowl of oats–I think it’s the peaches, since I didn’t bother cubing it this morning.
Randomly switching over to yesterday’s dinner:
The noodles are made of mung beans and water–I checked the package and was surprised because I’ve eaten this stuff countless times but never knew the ingredients list was so simple! Anyway, it tasted great with the pasta sauce and tilapia!
I meant to pan sear the fillet and have the end product look like a fillet, but I guess I was too cool for that.
Dinner part II:
It filled me up for about an hour…and then I came back from lab and ate some blackberries & blueberries, which finally did the trick!
Another random switch to today’s post-run snack: [I tell you, if anyone was to leave me in charge of a time machine…]
Banana, plain yogurt, and choco black-corn cookie/scone/muffin/thing. I really like how the banana tastes with yogurt! It was a bit like a mixture of sour cream and sweetened cream cheese–yum! Hello new addiction!
I was actually pretty stuffed from the yogurt, but I decided to eat something else anyway:
Toasted tortilla [1/4 of the whole thing] with jam. I rather like it all crunchy like that! Oh my, food is just so awesome.
Oatmeal #68: Cottage cheese July 16, 2008Posted by oatmeal in Breakfast, Dinner.
Tags: cottage cheese, peaches, sunflower seeds
Yummeh! The cottage cheese melted right into the oatmeal–probably equivalent to adding salt to oatmeal, except creamier! I bet it’d be just perfect with 0.25 cup soy milk or milk! And peach was the best way to complement the saltiness! I think any sweet fruits would taste pretty good with this combo!
Along with half a cup of soy milk. Decided to skip the caffeine today 😀
A slice of spiced flax bread that I cut in half and then spread blueberry-cherry jam! Also had another 0.25 cup cottage cheese 😀 Officially love cottage cheese!
For dinner, I tried to make shepherd’s pie, but this is what happened:
For the sauce, I just used ketchup 😛 And for the other stuff, I had a small potato mashed with 1 tsp olive oil, green lentils, soft tofu, frozen mixed veggies, chickpeas, and mushrooms. It was quite filling 😀 Unfortunately I’m out of potatoes! Noooo…I guess I’ll just use more beans to compensate!
Some of you requested the recipe for my yogurt pancakes–I’ve edited the post with the new addition! 😀 Let me know how it works out if you decide to try it!
