Garlic Toast!

+ almonds & peanuts

And oatmeal smoothie! Except I was running low so the whole thing probably contains 10% oatmeal.

  • oatmeal, coffee, cottage cheese, milk, rice milk, cinnamon, banana, frozen berries

It’s like a fruity, chewy latte :mrgreen:

I also baked a green tea cake:

I haven’t baked in a while! But I’m glad it turned out well–could have been a bit more moist though…maybe more milk and/or less oven-ing next time.

Oatmeal #100


I basically threw in the dessert mom made from the night before into my oats. So combining two of my favorite things seemed fitting for the 100th oatmeal experiment!

  • 0.33 cup oats
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 0.5 cup adzuki bean & lotus seed dessert
  • 9 glutinous rice balls
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 6 almonds

For some reason, the almonds make me think of squirrels 😛 It looks so forest-y with the green bowl!

Oatmeal #101: Chocolate Matcha Smoothie

The partay continues after my 49 minute run [couldn’t quite make it to 50 after going up a huge hill 😛 ]

This smoothie was the only reason I only had 0.33 cup of oatmeal this morning–didn’t want no overdosin’! :mrgreen:

  • 1 cup boiled water
  • 1 tsp matcha powder
  • 0.25 cup soy milk
  • 2 tbsp quick oats
  • 1 tbsp chocolate chips

I dissolved the matcha powder in boiled water and let that sit for about…half an hour? And then I blended everything else together–it was a great way to make drinking tea fun! [I’m not really a tea person 😛 ]

I actually ended up with a bigger cup than I was expecting–oh well! 😀

Needed either some sugar or more chocolate~not quite sweet enough, but it was pleasantly mild with a very prominent green tea taste–so no complaints there!

2 more days til I leave for California! [I think after this trip, I’m going to have to stop spending $$$ for the next 5 years…]

Vacationing has lazied me! [so much that I can’t be bothered to use proper verbs]  Haven’t been blogging, haven’t been catching up with other blogs–roar.

Oatmeal #98: Peppermint Tea

In yet another digging-through-the-pantry quest–I discovered a box of peppermint tea. Of course, I immediately thought: oatmeal + blogging = EATING ADVENTURES 😀

Not much stuff in this one–I think we were out of fruits:

  • oats
  • water
  • 2% milk
  • brown sugar [sprinkled on top ’cause it was a last minute addition]
  • walnuts
  • ground almonds
  • cinnamon
  • 1 peppermint tea bag


Oats + peppermint tea + toast + margarine

I think this tea the only kind [that I’ve tried so far] where I can actually taste the flavor. Don’t remember if the peppermint came through in the oats–but I could tell there was tea in there 😛

Post-something snack:

Could have been just a FEED ME snack for all I know 😛 Don’t remember if I yoga-ed in the morning or in the evening~


Digest crackers dipped to sogginess in milk = favorite snack from since…at least high school?! This is the first time I’ve had this since I came home, so naturally I had to go back for another cracker and more milk 😀

Oatmeal #99: Smoothies – Part IV


Am going to use the blender as many times as I can before I leave for school!

This is possibly the simplest ingredients list you’re ever going to see on this blog:

  • 0.5 cup quick oats
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.5 Fiji apple
  • 5 strawberries

Largest cup of smoothie I’ve made so far! Fruits really fills up space 😀

Oh oh so I ran on the treadmill instead of going outside since it was raining. So after a 45 minute run and I was walking to cool down, the machine said I was close to 1000 calories, but I saw that there were only three digit slots for the calorie counting slot! So I got curious and decided to walk a little longer to reach 1000 just to see if the machine would explode or something :mrgreen:

As you can see, nothing happened:


Not even a happy triumphant ditty or alarm bells or scientific notations or anything! What a cheap piece of crap!

Bran flakes, digest cracker, raw brownie, strawberries, milk & soy milk.

Post-yoga snack


Toast with blueberry yogurt spread on top 😀 I have such a huge sweet tooth, it’s ridiculous.




Home-made glutinous rice balls! Courtesy of mom, of course 😀 I stayed up just for this!

The other stuff: red beans + lotus seeds. I think I can die happy now~

Off to run in about half an hour!

Oatmeal #96: Smoothies – Part III August 22, 2008

Yesterday’s breakfast:

Orange-banana smoothie :mrgreen: I only threw in half an orange ’cause I wasn’t sure how orange I wanted the thing to be! I think that was the right choice, otherwise my cup would have overflowed!

Despite the amount of fruits I added this time–the drink wasn’t too sweet–which is, frankly, a-OK with me ’cause I dislike excessively sweet stuff anyway. More important was that I could actually taste and smell all the ingredients–which I could [except for the vanilla–but I didn’t add that much so that’s most likely why], so that was good 😀


Other things: vanilla extract, soy milk, milk, oats, almonds

With a piece of bread and leftover fruits! Was pretty filling for a breakfast that didn’t have much chewing involved. [Liquids just doesn’t hold me over that well–maybe ’cause I like eating more than drinking 😛 ]

Rhythmic gymnastics is on right now! So exciting!

Monday’s breakfast: More smoothie adventures!

This time:

  • 0.25 cup oats
  • 0.25 cup mixed grains
  • 0.25 cup soy milk
  • 0.25 cup 2% milk
  • 0.25 cup water
  • last of my goji berries [1.5 tbsp?]
  • 0.5 small carrot [yeah…I was looking for things to bulk up my smoothie with]
  • 0.25 cup corn
  • 2 medium strawberries

I’m not sure but I think I might have gotten a bigger cup this time? If not, well…I felt much more full after drinking, so…?


But yeah I was really impressed with the strawberries ’cause I could smell and taste them even though I only threw two random ones in! Awesome 😀 And I couldn’t taste the carrot & corn at all–even though I definitely chewed on some carrot pieces.

Tasted good though! Not too sweet, doughy, crunchy, chewy 😀 Kinda like last time!

Got hungry a while later, so had some soup:


Winter melon…? And shitake mushrooms.

Another snack…may have been after running…? I think that was the day I went running with my dad…? [oh no–early onset Alzheimer’s?!]

My raw brownies!!! Turned out actually brownie-like this time! ZOMFG. I used almonds and raisins [I threw in 2 pieces of apricot in ’cause I didn’t want to use up all the raisins], and I think I overdid the raisins ’cause it was too sweet–but that problem was solved by throwing in the peanut butter!

The stuff in the bowl is just soup with a scoop of congree [rice + water] mixed in.



I had like…3 bowls ’cause I was starving! I don’t understand why I’m always hungry…?

But anyway–the red stuff is something called Honeymoon fried rice? Or something? It comes with tomato sauce & chicken & onions on one side, alfredo & shrimp on the other side. And the rice + egg is underneath the sauce. It’s very yum 😀

The noodles’ just rice noodles + shrimp + egg. ❤

Nooo I can’t believe it’s almost the end of August–this has got to be the fastest summer ever!

Oatmeal #92: Smoothie August 17, 2008

Friday’s breakfast:


Smoothie with toast [margarine with cinnamon sprinkled on top]!
I know lots of people have done oatmeal smoothies before–but I haven’t! Therefore it’s obligatory that I give it a try–as we have a blender and everything! Damn, how did I live without this miraculous apparatus before?!

  • 0.5 cup oats
  • 0.5 cup soy milk
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup water [i think??]
  • 0.25 cup blueberries
  • 0.25 cup corn [yeah…]
  • 0.25 cup walnuts
  • 1 tbsp raisins

Um yeah it’s a very random list of ingredients–but that’s ’cause we didn’t exactly have a ton of fruits and stuff around the house at the moment, I suppose I could have added more blueberries–but I didn’t want to use up the whole thing by myself 😛 And I was originally planning to make a green walnut smoothie…but I was too lazy to wash the veggies, so I used corn and blueberries!

It was pretty good though! I ate the smoothie with a spoon since it seemed easier than sipping. Unfortunately, this breakfast wasn’t very filling 😦 I miss the flax!

For some reason I was feeling tired that day [jet lag?], so I ended up going back to bed…to wake up at 3: 30…so I had to make my own lunch:


I hate washing vegetables 😛 So there were only two types of veggies and three pieces of dumplings [] with shrimp egg noodles [basically just shrimp and wheat–not sure why they called it egg noodles…]

Dessert–MY VERY FAVORITE THING IN THE WORLD [aside from oatmeal, of course]–yamssssss!


My favorite is the purple ones–so chewy and soft! Yams are amazing 😀

The soup the yams are cooked in is basically just water, rock sugar, and ginger. SO. GOOD. I can chug this stuff down like oatmeal!

We’re having steak for dinner tonight–so excited! Haven’t had this stuff in so long! 😀 [Oh man, I never want this vacation to end!]
